1.     In which market(s) does your company operate? What products / services does it offer?

SCHOTT is a leading international technology group in the areas of specialty glass and glass-ceramics. The company has more than 130 years of outstanding development, materials and technology expertise and offers a broad portfolio of high-quality products and intelligent solutions. SCHOTT is an innovative enabler for many industries, including the home appliance, pharmaceutical, electronics, optics, automotive and aviation industries. SCHOTT strives to play an important part of everyone’s life and is committed to innovation and sustainable success. The group maintains a global presence with production sites and sales offices in 35 countries and boasts approx. 15,400 employees.

2.     How long has your company been active in China? In which locations in China is it currently active?
In 2002 SCHOTT opened its first production site in Suzhou where it manufactures SCHOTT CERAN® glass-ceramic cook-top panels, flat glass for gas hop tops as well as high-quality vials for the pharmaceutical packaging industry. The company also has a Technical Service Center for application engineering in Suzhou. In the same year, SCHOTT opened its Sales Office in Shanghai. 2012, it established the joint venture SCHOTT Xinkang Pharmaceutical Packaging Co., Ltd, in Jinyun for the production of ampoules, vials and cartridges for the pharmaceutical packaging industry.

3.     Why is your company also an attractive employer in Greater China?
Besides doing business in mainland China, SCHOTT has been present in Taiwan since 1990 when it opened its sales office in Taipei and engages in business activities in Hong Kong as well. 4.    What skills are you looking for in a candidate for your China business?
We are looking for Engineers and Natural Scientists as well as for Economists and Business Professionals with a fulfillment of Graduation Requirements, relevant professional experience through training/internships and at least one study or working abroad experience and good knowledge of the English language. Moreover you should be a good team player, flexible, independently and have a strong work ethic as well as strong communication skills. We expect a high degree of personal motivation, willingness to take over responsibility, determination, perseverance, and critical thinking abilities.

5.     Why are candidates with an EU-China background especially interesting for your company?
As a German company, internationally operating and subsidiaries in China, candidates with an EU China Background are particular interesting for us. As they know the cultural differences they can use their intercultural awareness to improve the communication with international teams and make it more efficiently. In addition to their language skills and the education outside of the home country, they are very valuable candidates, particularly for our sites in China.
