Visa Taiwan

For entry into Taiwan a visa is required if the stay is longer than 90 days. For shorter durations citizens of the following countries do not need a visa for Taiwan:

Austria, Australia (up to 30 days), Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada (up to 30 days), the Czech Republic, Cypress, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea (up to 30 days), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malaysia (up to 30 days), Malta, Monaco, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore (up to 30 days), Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, USA (up to 30 days), Vatican City.

Entry into Taiwan without a visa
To enter Taiwan without a visa the following requirements must be verified upon arrival:

• Passport valid for at least another 6 months
• Return or continuation plane ticket (if necessary with the required visa) with the departure firmly booked.
• The entrant may not have a criminal record in Taiwan

Student visa, work visa and business visa for Taiwan
For travel to Taiwan that requires a visa, for example to study, for an internship or business trip, the following documents must be presented at the consulate for Taiwan. Or as an alternative a visa agency can also be tasked with the application.

• Taiwan visa application
• Passport (valid for at least 6 more months)
• 2 passport photos no more than 6 months old (one photo is for the application form)
• Return or continuation plane ticket (if necessary with the required visa) with the departure firmly booked.

For a visa granted for a specific activity, corresponding documentation must be provided:

• Invitation from the ministry or employer
• Proof of matriculation from universities
• References and recommendations, etc.

Which exact documentation has to be submitted depends on the specific case and can change on short notice. As a general rule the documentation is provided by the institution in Taiwan making the invitation.
