About the RoleAs an Automotive Systems Engineer specializing in Battery Management Systems (BMS), you will play a key role in the design, development, and optimization of BMS solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Your expertise will help to improve the operational efficiency, safety, and lifetime of battery packs. You will work with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers and vehicle integration specialists

Job Responsibilities:

1. BMS - Design and Development
  • Solicit requirements or analyze OEM specifications from all stakeholders.
  • Lead system design and development of BMS systems and subsystems.
  • Decompose system and subsystem requirements down to the component level.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Work with hardware and software teams to seamlessly integrate BMS functionality.
2. Algorithm Development
  • Develop and optimize control algorithms for BMS functions.
  • Implement state-of-the-art battery state estimation, cell balancing, and thermal management algorithms.
  • Predict available power and energy based on battery state.
3. Verification and Validation
  • Define and support verification and validation strategies.
  • Conduct testing from prototype phase through to homologation.
  • Ensure BMS performance meets safety, efficiency, and reliability requirements.
4.  Collaboration and Communication 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and thermal engineers.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to enhance BMS capabilities.
5. Continuous Improvement
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in BMS design, performance, and reliability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in Electrical, Automotive, Aerospace or Systems Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive systems within a complex multidisciplinary product environment.
  • Proficiency in HV (high-voltage) battery systems and familiarity with system design using lithium-based battery cells.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (ISO 26262 ASIL C/D, IEC 61508) and HV safety practices.
  • Experience with BMS hardware and software architecture.
  • Experience in serial development projects with Cybersecurity and Aspice CL1/2 and above.
  • Depending on the product groups or on the field of application, knowledge in embedded software development with C programming language, hardware, and software development in automotive bus systems like CAN, LIN and Ethernet may be required.
  • Quick perception, initiative, and creativity
  • Willingness to take responsibility.
  • Able to work under pressure, flexible and a team player.
  • Fluent in German, English and Chinese
  • Willingness to travel
  • European class B driving license.
