Our client is a renowned public listed multinational company in Europe. For the BU Automotive, we are looking for a Managing Director China (first and main role) AND Head of Operations Asia (2nd role), responsible for the overall management of China Automotive business with P&L responsibility for more than 1000 employees in multiple locations in China (first role), as well as the BU Strategy, achievement of key results and overall performance of multiple locations in Asia (second role).

Main Role: Managing Director China, location at Main Factory in Anhui Province

1-1. Site strategy /management at our main location in Anhui province

  1. Establish and execute a long-term site strategy, aligned with Corporate strategy
  2. Establish and achieve financial performance as per company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) including financial and operational excellence targets
  3. Setup targets for the site team contributing to the company´s OKRs
  4. Deliver timely launches, quality products and on-time deliveries (in close cooperation with sales, engineering and operations)
  5. Responsible for all activities / business operations of the two sites in China
  6. Drive profitable growth in close cooperation with all functional areas
  7. Promote customer service mentality
  8. Maintain personal contact with key customer representatives relevant for the site or HQ
  9. Coordinate relevant activities between operational, engineering and sales teams 

1-2. Deployment Operational Excellence / Corporate Production System / Agility and People Development

  1. Promote and deploy OE/ Kaizen / Lean Production and Agility within own site
  2. Improve on operational excellence and the maturity level of Kaizen/Lean Production
  3. Apply Kaizen Continuous Improvement for cost optimization/control, reduction of waste, improving OE a.o.
  4. Lead, coach and mentor the team to live the Corporate values, to embrace the leadership culture and improve employee satisfaction
  5. Use the talent development tools to enhance skill levels, identify and coach talent.
  6. Ensure the talent pipeline for the site is secured
  7. Foster a diverse and engaged working environment while considering labour legislation and health & safety guidelines

Responsibilities as Managing Director China

─       Drive/implement the site strategy, achieve site and team targets, deliver the profitability and growth

─       Estalish and deploy the resource plan needd to achive targets, build a culture of ongoing improvement

─       Deploy Kaizen / Agility in line with the global requirements

─       Deploy best-in-class practices for the production processes of all sites

─       Provide regular reports to the organization as per established operating mode

─       Keep all relevant stakeholders informed about the business plans and their progress

─       Validate the sites´ forecast

─       Ensure site compliance in view of EHS, quality standards, labour law, internal guidelines and regulations

─       Deliver the logistics and quality performance as per customer requirements

─       Approve cost calculations and strategic pricing for open opportunities

─       Represent the company in relationship with unions, authorities and regulatory bodies

─       Approve as per DOA’s: hiring, investments, purchases, quotes, etc…

─       Deliver on-time product launch and investment realization projects in close cooperation with all stakeholders

─       Act as a crisis manager for the key emergencies or designate the appropriate crisis manager

─       Lead and coach site team in their areas of responsibility

─       Create a self-learning environment where employees can reach their full potential


2nd Role: Head of Operations Asia for Automotive Business 

2-1. Support Global Business Unit Strategy

a.      BU Automotive: business -  footprint - commercial strategy

b.      Contribute to the optimization and the deployment of Automotive strategies

c.      Contribute to the achievement of Key Results and overall performance of BU Automotive

 2-2. Support Asia Regional Business Unit Strategy

a.      BU Automotive regional leadership for multiple sites in China and Asia

b.      Coordination of all functions in the region

c.      Deployment of site strategies

d.      Ensure site performance through company´s leadership styles

e.      Identify and facilitate completion of special tasks/projects

Responsibilities as Head of Operations Asia

─       Establish and optimize the regional coordination structure required for alignment, decision making and problem solving

─       Oversee the optimization and deployment of Automotive Regional sites strategies

─       Update on site performance target deployed, based on OKR system, at every RFC cycle

─       Coach Site Directors to identify special tasks and to create the required structure for their completion
