Delegation of German Industry and Commerce - Shanghai

The Delegations of German Industry and Commerce in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taiwan represent the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) in Greater China and are part of the global network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK). On behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany, they represent the overall economic interests of Germany abroad.

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Shanghai works closely together with the German Chamber of Commerce in China Shanghai (GCC) and the German Industry & Commerce Shanghai (GIC) – together, they are the overall platform for Sino-German trade and industry promotion in the Greater Shanghai region and provide support to German enterprises and their local partners.  

To support the Delegation’s tasks and activities in Shanghai we are currently looking for an experienced

Manager Executive Communications and Strategic Projects/ Referent der Geschäftsführung


Support the Chief Representative and General Manager of German Industry & Commerce Shanghai with the following tasks, including but not limited to:


    Developing and writing speeches, briefings, and any other related high-level communications for the executive office.


    Preparing comprehensive background information and formulating consistent messaging tailored to the intended audience.


    Compiling engaging presentations, internal and external announcements and talking points.


    Liaising closely with other departments, field offices and stakeholders in Germany to ensure timely and relevant inputs into development of written communication for the executive office


    Advising the executive office on communication matters to ensure consistency, quality and impact of internal and external communications and publications.


    Providing editorial direction in any and all external and internal communications – these include, but are not limited to, press releases, newsletters, magazine articles, event descriptions or classified internal memos.


    Close cooperation with the press and external communications departments in matters pertaining to public relations, press interviews and concurrent preparations, establishment and maintenance of press contact network.


    Monitoring and analyzing policy developments pertaining to Sino-German business relations, ensuring timely and accurate communication of any relevant developments that affect the work of the executive office.


    Implementation and supervision of certain management initiatives and projects


    Other tasks may be assigned as necessary


    Bachelor’s degree with at least 3-5 years of related experience

    A firm grasp of economic and political developments in China, Germany / the EU and international politics

    Strong analytical skills and understanding of Sino-German business relations

    Ability to navigate political sensitivities and to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strict deadlines; high flexibility in adapting to projects as they arise

    Executive-level writing and editing skills, experience with extensive research projects

    Fluency (written and verbal) in German and English, Mandarin language skills (written and verbal) are an asset

    Strong analytical skills and understanding of Sino-German business relations

    MS Office proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel ect.), familiarity with CRM systems

    Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, ability to observe confidentiality. A structured work approach and high attention to detail.
