As a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China – a corporation ranking 3rd on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world's largest companies - the Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute Co.Ltd. (GEIRI) was founded in Beijing, China, and engages in research and development of technologies and equipment for a Global Energy Interconnection. Since 2014 GEIRI has a European subsidiary and located in the center of Berlin, Germany named Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute Europe GmbH (GEIRI Europe). A multinational team of researchers is working on bringing innovative products to the market in three departments focusing on energy distribution. By collaborating with European Business partners and academic institutes, GEIRI Europe is active in the fields of Intelligent Sensing and Measurement, Highvoltage Direct Current Energy Transmission, High-end Electric Materials as well as Energy Storage Materials and technology, thereby improving the ways renewable energies are integrated into the power grid. Starting from 2018, the Engineering Centre has opened up a door to the European HVDC sector as the strategic base of GEIRI in Berlin and plays an indispensable role in its business development. Through comprehensive collaboration with interdisciplinary stakeholders, the Engineering Centre is aiming to pave the way for the future success of GEIRI’s international business.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing measurement systems and conducting system development testing for power grid monitoring applications, including partial discharge and condition monitoring.
  • Conduct experimental testing and verification in laboratory settings to validate system performance and reliability.
  • Create test scenarios and scripts to meet test requirements, ensuring accurate and comprehensive test coverage.
  • Document findings by preparing detailed test reports and summaries.
  • Support the development of optoelectronic measurement systems and perform experimental testing and verification for these systems in laboratories.
  • Full-time: 40 hours per week
  • Starting date: 01.01.2025


Requirements:

  • Background in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s students preferred).
  • Basic understanding of power grid monitoring concepts, particularly partial discharge and condition monitoring.
  • Familiarity with experimental setups and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of optoelectronic systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in creating technical documentation and reports.
