Our client is a leading European family-owned manufacturing company with more than 1billion US$ annual sales turnover worldwide. In China, they have numerous production facilities with about 1000 employees. To support their rapid growth in China, we are looking for an experienced Operation, Technical, Factory or Production Manager from paper, coating, printing or other process industries as our Head of Operations China (new position) to support all production facilities in China to improve quality, productivity and costs. The employment location will be Shanghai, but the work location is the main production site in Longyou (near Hangzhou).

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Report to COO in Europe (solid line) and Board of Directors in China (dotted line), act as the local Technical and Production head in China
    • First step is to support the new production plant in Quzhou (near Hangzhou), second step to support all paper mills in China
    • Support all production facilities in China to achieve company´s goals in quality, productivity and cost.
    • Act as a counsellor with informal leadership, developing an intercultural team in China, especially in operations.
    • KPIs or Measurements are: Product qualification, quality, product performance, productivity and costs; Efficiency of organization; Mill and product performance

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Fluent in English and Chinese, ideally also German
    • University or vocational study and qualifications in production, engineering or technics
    • Technical background and experience in paper making or related industries (process industry)
    • Management experience (preferably has managed > 100 staff in production)
    • International mind-set; team player; hands-on mentality; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
